| It is important to note
that starting a swimming program should not be taken lightly.
| Swimming instructors
advise swimmers to never swim under the influence of alcohol. |
| We should never swim
alone, and we should know our limits, trying as much as possible to swim with a lifeguard
on duty and have a telephone nearby for emergencies. |
| Also, experts advise us
to know the basics of Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation. If you want to learn buy are
afraid of drowning, organizations like the YMCA and YWCA advise us to enroll in classes. |
| There are many places
like these which offer regular-swimming classes geared toward both adults and children. http://www.poolfence.com/ |
| Beyond the many health
benefits of swimming listed above, it can be inexpensive and an entertaining way to spend
time with our family and friends. |
|
| We learned that there
are many of the appearance and circulatory benefits you can expect from just 8-12 weeks of
swimming.
| The appearance benefits
are body composition changes, which increases in muscle tissue and decreases in body fat
and circumference changes, which are reduction in the size of the body parts. |
| The circulatory
benefits include decreases in heart rate, cholesterol, and blood pressure and increases in
stroke volume, which is the amount of blood pumped out of your heart with each beat. |
| very important
advantage is that swimming helps to reduce incidence of heat illness, because they
dissipate body heat to the cool water. |
| In addition, swimming
involves all the major muscles in the body, and as a result, it gives you more of a total
conditioning effect than many other sports. |
| swimmers tend to have
fewer problems with injuries than other sports like runners because the buoyancy of the
water helps reduce excessive pressure on the joints and bones. |
